Who can live at The Towers?
The Towers is open to all full-time students, not just those enrolled at City College. We also welcome students from neighboring colleges and universities looking for a convenient, community-oriented housing option in Harlem.
Where is The Towers located?
The Towers is located on The City College of New York campus at 401 W 130th Street, New York, NY 10027 — just steps away from classrooms, dining options, and local transportation.
How can I schedule a tour?
To schedule a tour, please complete our Tour Request Form at least 3 business days in advance. In-person tours are offered Monday through Friday at 11 AM or 2 PM, excluding holidays, and we’re unable to accommodate walk-ins at this time. After signing up, you’ll receive a confirmation email within 72 business hours with all the details—including a virtual link if you selected an online tour.
How can I apply for housing?
Applications are available online at ccnytowers.com. Once you create an account, you’ll be guided through the application and agreement process.
When do applications open?
Applications are accepted year-round, but space fills quickly. Priority deadlines are typically in spring for fall housing and late fall for spring housing.
What is the difference between “applying” for housing and “signing a License Agreement”?
Submitting an application lets us know you’re interested in living at The Towers, but it is not binding. Signing a License Agreement means you’re entering into a legally binding contract to reside at The Towers for the full term of the agreement and to follow all terms and conditions outlined in the document.
How are roommates assigned?
Roommates are assigned based on your answers to the lifestyle questions in the housing application. You can also request a specific roommate if both parties mutually agree and space allows.
Can I request a room change?
Room change requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and are subject to availability. Requests must be submitted through the housing office and are not guaranteed.
Are there gender-neutral or specialty living options?
Yes. We offer Specialty Living Suites, which include gender-neutral and ESA-approved housing options. Availability may vary each semester.
How much does it cost to live at The Towers?
Housing rates vary based on apartment type and bedroom occupancy. Please click HERE for detailed rate information. All posted rates include utilities, cable, internet, free laundry, and unlimited access to the fitness center, music rehearsal room, and all community amenities.
Will the cost for housing at The Towers be included in my tuition statement?
No. Housing fees are not included in your tuition bill and must be paid directly to The Towers — either online, by mail, or in person.
Can financial aid be used toward my student’s housing bill?
Yes. Any financial aid (grants, loans, or scholarships) remaining after tuition and fees are paid can be applied toward housing at The Towers. Any portion of the housing cost not covered by financial aid will be an out-of-pocket expense. Students who wish to defer their housing payments in anticipation of a financial aid refund must submit proof of approved financial aid by August 1 (Fall) and January 1 (Spring).
When are housing payments due?
Payment due dates are outlined in your Housing Agreement and Acknowledgment Page. Installment plans are available for eligible residents.
How can payments be made for my student’s housing bill?
Payments can be made online through the Resident Portal or directly to Housing and Residence Life at The Towers by check or money order. Students will receive instructions on how to register and log in to their Resident Portal prior to move-in
Can I pay online?
Yes, most residents can make payments online through their Entrata Resident Portal. Please note that we cannot accept payments over the phone.
What is the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)?
We value the role of parents and families in supporting our residents, but The Towers complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), which limits what information we can share. Under FERPA, directory information (name, address, phone number, and email address) may be released without written consent. All other student information remains confidential.
Are there accommodations for persons with disabilities?

Is smoking or vaping allowed at The Towers?
No. The Towers is a smoke-free and vape-free community. This includes all rooms, suites, and outdoor common areas.
Are pets allowed?
Pets are not permitted unless it’s a fish in 10-gallon tank. However, approved Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) and Service Animals are allowed in accordance with documented and approved accommodation requests.
Can I have visitors or overnight guests?
Yes. Guests are welcome but must be registered at the front desk. Specific guest policies and limits are outlined in your Resident Handbook.
What is the cancellation policy?
Once the agreement is signed, residents are financially responsible for the full term of their contract. Requests for cancellation must meet extenuating circumstances.
How does The Towers protect a student’s privacy and confidentiality?
Housing and Residence Life takes great care to protect each resident’s privacy and confidentiality.
Information may be posted or released only under the following conditions:
- First names on door decorations or community boards
- Full names for awards, leadership roles, or community initiatives
- Staff use for official housing communications or floor lists
Please note: we cannot share details about roommate conflicts, conduct matters, or similar issues with family members unless the student provides written consent. In emergencies, Housing and Residence Life will contact the student’s listed emergency contact.
What’s included in my suite?
Each suite includes fully furnished bedrooms and living spaces, a kitchenette, and a private bathroom. Utilities, internet, and cable are all included in your housing rate.
Are The Towers’ apartments furnished?
Yes, all apartments are fully furnished. Each bedroom includes a bed, desk and chair, dresser, and built-in closet.
Kitchens include a refrigerator, microwave, cooktop stove, and cabinets. Three- and four-bedroom suites also include a sofa, chair, and coffee table in the shared living area.
Are there meal plans available?
While The Towers does not have a meal plan requirement, residents can enjoy cooking in their in-suite kitchen.
What amenities are available?
Amenities include free internet and cable, fitness center, study lounges, free laundry, music room, package locker, patio, and community spaces.
How do I submit a maintenance request?
Residents can submit maintenance requests directly through their Entrata Resident Portal. Emergency maintenance concerns should be reported to the front desk immediately.
How secure is The Towers?
The Towers features 24-hour front desk coverage, secured access points, camera surveillance, and on-site staff to ensure resident safety.
What safety measures are in place at The Towers?
The Towers is a modern, secure building designed to provide a safe and comfortable living environment. A courtesy officer is stationed at the Welcome Desk 24/7 to monitor entry and guest sign-ins. The building uses a key fob access system for the main entrance, elevators, and apartment doors, and closed-circuit cameras are located throughout hallways and common areas. All guests must be signed in and escorted by their host resident while in the building.
Are there curfews or quiet hours?
Quiet hours are in place to maintain a respectful community environment. There are no curfews, but residents are expected to abide by community standards at all times.
What should I do if I lose my key or ID?
Report lost keys or IDs immediately to the front desk. Replacement fees may apply.
When is move-in day?
The official Fall Move-In Day typically takes place in late August, and the Spring Move-In Day in late January.
What should I bring?
Bring your essentials — bedding, toiletries, dishes, small appliances, and personal décor. A full packing checklist is available in your welcome email.
Can students stay at The Towers during the holidays and school breaks?
Yes, The Towers remains open during Winter Break and Spring Break. Information about Summer Housing is typically published in early spring.
